Bone Marrow Donation Video on "What's Up Wit' That?"

A couple of months ago some good luck landed in my lap. I was given the opportunity to come be a guest on Andrew Willyoung's public access tv show on KMVT "What's Up Wit' That?"

I asked if I could bring some friends along and the producer of the show said absolutely! So I called the AADP and Team Matthew. As it turned out the Carol Gillespie, Executive Director of the AADP, and James Nguyen who is part of the team that is heading the Team Matthew donor drive effort were both able to join me for the taping.

The episode is a good crash course in why marrow donation is needed and what the donation process entails.

It was a great taping and host Andrew implored his viewers numerous times to take action and get registered.

The episode is approximately 30 minutes long and was filmed in Mountain View, CA in April.

New Facebook Application to Join the Marrow Registry

Team Anh had a great idea for helping people join the marrow registry! A Facebook application to order a marrow donor kit!! What an easy and fast way to learn how to join the marrow donor program. Anyone whose anyone has a Facebook page these days and it is so easy to add applications. This is a direct link to the application.  All it takes is a simple form that will take less than five minutes to fill out and you will receive your kit.

If you do not have a Facebook it is never too late to join.  It's a great way to catch up with old friends and relatives and an easy and fun way to keep up with everyone you know.  And, Facebook has hundreds of applications that can be informative or games or challenges or even helpful for remembering birthdays. So if you haven't already, join and have fun!

If you are already a member of the registry please send invites to the application to spread the word.  This is such an important cause and Team Anh has really found a great and easy way to help people register.

Japanese City • A Fun and Free Website

Japanese-City is a fun and free website that allows participants to find or add Japanese events in their community.  Japanese-City is a website for nationwide events. However, you obviously do not have to be Japanese to use the website and attend the events or add an event to the calendar.  Search your area and find fun and exciting things to do.

The great news is that Japanese-City has agreed to feature Tami on the right hand side of the calendar pages.  Tami's ad will be rotated with another patient suffering from Myelodysplasia. Team Krissy is helping 26 year old Krissy find a match also.  

If you know of a Japanese cultural event in your area, please feel free to add it to the website. Or, if you would like to attend a cultural event in your area, you can search Japanese-City for events you may be interested in attending.

Sal Pizzaro Rocks!

I sent out a brief request to Columnist Sal Pizzaro at the San Jose Mercury News around 2 weeks ago asking if he could help us to publicize Tami's upcoming Marrow Donor Drive at The Tech Museum this Sunday. Yesterday he did! YAY!

And I know people read about it because I received a few emails from them letting me know that they are spreading the word via email to their friends, colleagues and family members to urge them to go down to the Tech Museum on Sunday to get registered.

One message that me LOL said at the end that I had made her wedding veil 10 years ago! For those who didn't know: I've been a couture bridal accessory designer here in the Bay Area for the past 12 years making custom bridal veils, tiaras, hair pins, jewelry and cake toppers. It was great that one of my clients from so long ago recognized my name after all of these years and wants to help my cousin.

Thanks to Mr. Pizzaro and to all of you who have helped us to spread the word with your emails, blog posts, tweets and Facebook updates. I'm certain we are going to have a great drive on Sunday!
