How Tami is Feeling

Well, yesterday may have been ok for Tami but today was really rough:( Tami needed a platelet transfusion like she does most days.  However, today she had a severe reaction to her platelet transfusion.  She broke out in hives all over body.  The doctors gave her Benadryl and put aloe on her skin.  The transfusion had to be stopped immediately.  Tami needs these transfusions until a match can be found.  Without the transfusion, Tami's blood pressure dropped and she broke out in a sweat and felt faint.

The doctors feel that the vagus nerve is causing the problem.  They will have to use a different procedure to give Tami platelets from now on because of her severe reaction.

Tami is going to have a blood transfusion tonight.  The nurse will stay with her and monitor her very closely.  I will update the blog as soon as we know anything tomorrow.
